“Plosion”
Out of the Dust
Aluminuim, Bronze, Granite, Obsidian
3’ x 2’ x 2’
$40,000
Sculptor Tim Joseph began the series, Out of The Dust 25 years ago. It began as a reaction to the accumulative nature of his Colorado art production facility, combined with a desire for collecting and repurposing materials.
His process begins with the assemblage of unique and stimulating parts, both found and made, that begin a conversation about the times from which they originated. Appropriated metal fragments that have endured the abuse of war and neglect take on new meaning in the context of a twenty first century culture.
The industrial complex of our modern world yields endless artifacts that have aided in the progression of life and also the destruction of it. Linear compositions pull these objects out of hibernation, confidently reasserting them into a modern context.
The sculptures are intended to begin a conversation with the viewer asking them to participate in a creative narrative, contributing their own ideas and experiences.

“Swat Team” Bronze Life Size $69,000
Summer in northeastern Colorado is usually hot, but the summer of 1997 was also humid, very humid. Flies must love this weather combination because they arrived in droves, making it miserable for animals. Every rancher found it necessary to provide some kind of relief for their livestock. My three burros–Jennifer, Elizabeth and Libby—hate flies, so every other day I would wipe them down with fly repellant. One day, after what is locally referred to as a “gully washer,” I looked out to see my burros standing so close together that a piece of paper wouldn’t fit between them. They’re normally together, but never as close as this. I continued to watch and noticed that although they were standing side-by-side, they were facing in opposite directions: heat-to-tail and tail-to-head. After watching for only a short time, it became clear that the rain had washed off the fly repellant and the clever little animals were working together to fend off those nasty pests. No fly in his right mind would brave the gauntlet of switching tails, flapping ears, stomping hooves and flying dirt. It was a team effort and it was working. The winged blood-sucking villains had been outwitted by “The Swat Team.”

“Team Mates”
Bronze
12” x 23” x 13.5”
$3,800.00
When I was a small child we lived in southern Mississippi near Biloxi. At that time, in many part of the rural south, mechanization was not prevalent. Consequently, many people still farmed with mules and horses. Some even used them to provide transportation. It was so common to see working teams that I came to the conclusion that in order to make a good living all you needed was a team and a couple of hound dogs for hunting. I hope “Teammates” captures the wonderful feeling of this way of life.

“In Good Hands”
Bronze
37.5” x 16” x 25”
$12,500.00
When I began to sculpt, the subjects I chose were the animals that were and remain near and dear to my heart. Some of these beloved friends are no longer with me-but they remain in my life through art.
This sculpture is my tribute to all the animals who have enriched my life and my art. I know that they are “In Good Hands”

“Good Shepard”
Bronze
13” x 12” x 7”
$2300.00
In 1994 I decided to design my own Christmas card. “Among Friends” aka “Good Shepard” was the result. Several years later, a Loveland, Colorado charity held a competition for a design for a Christmas ornament. My design was chosen and cast in pewter.
Every time I happened to see either my card or the ornament I smiled and had the feeling that the design needed to be incorporated into a bronze sculpture. So, in 2016 I was invited to exhibit several of my sculptures in a gallery in Scottsdale, AZ called “Sacred Art.” I felt “Among Friends” would be a perfect fit, and since I had been thinking about sculpting it for several years, being invited to exhibit in this gallery became the “push” I needed to sculpt this piece.
