Meigs and Associates).

This exhibition is sponsored in part by: Bolen Office Supply Inc.; Peachy Insurance; & New York Life C.L. Meigs & Associates.

This exhibit will feature a new body of prints, drawings
and a site specific installation. The artist will create a
number of new works specifically for this exhibition.
“Having been raised only miles from the museum, I feel a
strong affinity and connection to the surrounding places and people. The flat work will
address the landscape and agricultural history of the region. Having been raised on a
nearby wheat farm, this experience has continued to shape my practice. I intend to use
photographs from a recent trip back to KS as a source for multi-media imagery that will
be printed via multiple processes, both hand-pulled and digital. My installation will include
materials deriving from my family’s farm. The piles of materials surrounding the
buildings of our farm acted as a resource for my father, grandfather and great
grandfather for the purpose of repairing, building and inventing various tools and
objects as needed.I adopt a similar strategy in my own work. I am interested in
highlighting this connection to agrarian and artistic practices through this
exhibition.” – Jon Swindler

Click here to visit the exhibit Catalog: John DeAndrea & Ariel DeAndrea

Filley North Gallery: April 22rd to August 12, 2016: John DeAndrea, Verist sculptor, is internationally celebrated and renowned for his hyperrealist human figure sculptures (polyvinyl or polychromed bronze cast) that are typically posed in true-to-life positions, pushing the boundaries of realism to the extreme. John’s daughter, Ariel DeAndrea, is an accomplished realist painter, based out of LA and New York. Ariel explores the movement, life and spirituality in the design and symbolism of an otherwise lifeless object: the origami crane. Her Oil paintings feature the paper birds in natural settings, bodies of water from around the world. Father and Daughter will exhibit side by side for the very first time!
